Maria Rita Prangen, 88, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 7, 1936, in Hennersdorf, Czech Republic, to Josef Cersovsky and Rosa Lehmann, Maria lived a remarkable life defined by resilience, kindness, and devotion to her family. A WWII survivor, Maria was an optimist who embraced life with an open mind and a generous heart. Alongside her beloved husband, Gustav, she courageously built a new life, first in Canada and later in the United States. Maria’s family was her greatest joy. She had a passion for cooking, baking, organizing, gardening, reading, and sewing. Always eager to lend a helping hand, Maria was a source of unwavering support and encouragement to her children and grandchildren. Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Gustav; her children, Marion (Pete) Meesenburg and Richard (Mary Lou) Prangen; her four grandchildren; and her brothers, Kurt and Hans Juergen Cersovsky. She was predeceased by her brother, Siegfried. Maria’s legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Services are private.
