Dean J. “Jerry” Sletten, age 96, longtime resident of Elmhurst and parishioner and volunteer at Immaculate Conception Parish; beloved husband of the late June M., nee Vietzen; loving father of Richard (Madeleine) Sletten, Mary (Michael) Fergus, Michael (Rebecca) and Tom (Margaret) Sletten; proud grandfather of Samuel and Andrew Sletten, Kaitlin (Clint) Hawkins, Alyson (William) Kenny, Michael and Lauren Fergus, Molly, Michael, Amy and Grace Sletten and great-grandfather of Lincoln Hawkins; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Jerry was an active member of the Elmhurst community, a long time member of the Elmhurst Knights of Columbus as well as a Eucharistic Minister at the hospital. He was a member of the Elmhurst Parks Foundation and a volunteer for the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce. Jerry had many hobbies. In his younger years, he enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot. He had a love for sailing, golfing, traveling, and driving around town in his MG sports car. But his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his eleven grandchildren. Visitation Thursday 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst.
