Ellen M. Wanzung

Ellen M. Wanzung, age 79, 50 year resident of Elmhurst and proud Adirondack Mountain native of Dannemora, NY; former President of York High School Athletic Booster Club and former RE teacher at Immaculate Conception Parish. Ellen worked 20 years for Chrysler Financial as well as many years for Elmhurst College. In earlier days, Ellen was a runner and cyclist. She also enjoyed tennis and golf with her Elmhurst friends as well as book club, poker club, and a bowling league. In more recent years, she was an avid reader and a solitaire player and crossword puzzle worker but also remained active with daily swims in the ever chilly waters of Chazy Lake. If you knew Ellen, you knew “Camp” on Chazy Lake was her happy place. It is where friends and family became one and where every sunset was celebrated. Ellen was the beloved wife of Jack of 58 years. They met in Plattsburgh, NY when Jack was stationed there in the US Air Force. Ellen was a devoted and loving mother of John Wanzung (Peggy Lanigan) and Michelle (Jim) Kennedy. She was the ever proud grandmother (Oma) of Sheamus, Ella, & Brennan Kennedy and Jack & Connor Wanzung. Beloved Auntie Ellen to her nieces and nephews and godmother to Patrick Brennan, Paul Glickley, Kristen Hobbs, and Lynn Brennan.
