Brendan James Murtaugh, Age 25, suddenly, Beloved son of Dennis and Ann Murtaugh, nee Evans; Devoted brother of Patrick Michael Murtaugh; Cherished grandson of William & Patricia Evans and the late James & Jeanne Murtaugh; Adored nephew, cousin and friend of many.  Visitation Sunday, September 15, 2024, 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday, September 16, 2024, 8:00 a.m. until time of prayers 8:45 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (1/2 mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst.  Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Interment Private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brendan’s name to the Gateway Foundation, 55 Jackson Boulevard, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604.  Please leave a memory on the funeral home’s website, your stories of Brendan will bring comfort to his family.  For funeral information please call 630-832-0018 or www.gibbonsfuneralhome.com.

    To Brendan’s family and friends,
    I send my warmest hugs, and comfort. Brendan was a good friend, a good person, and a bright spirit. I will never forget his laugh, or the way he lit up a room. When I moved away from Elmhurst, he made sure to come visit to let me know how much he still cared. It mean’t the world to me, he is dearly missed.
    It may have been months, or years in between- but he always carried that same love.

    I only knew Brendan as a coworker, but for the little time that I did I discovered him to be the most kind, helpful, and genuine person. I’m glad I got to know him but sad it was cut so short. To his family, my deepest condolences
