George John Tully

George John Tully of Lombard,. formerly of Elmhurst, Oak Park and Chicago, requested his last “final-final” Sunday, March 26th, 2023; George grew up during the Great Depression and World War II, and was a proud product of Chicago’s West side community including Our Lady Help of Christians, Saint Mel’s High School class of ‘55. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and an active member of the Chicagoland business community for over 60 years. In the 1980’s, George was part of the new cellular phone industry, providing cutting edge technology through his various “Tullyphone” companies. A fierce believer in his own opinion, George was always right. Sometimes, he was even correct. George loved life and all things liquid, except water which he deemed “too skinny”. He loved his family, his friends, and reveled in being the life of the party. George could be difficult, headstrong and selfish, forgiving, caring and selfless. In short, a very good man. George was the beloved husband of Mary Alyce, nee Conley and the late Mary Therese; devoted father of Mike (Joanne), Terry (Katy) and Tricia (Kevin) Conlon and step-father of Tom (Dee) Tully, Jack (Rosaleen) Tully, Sheila (Brian) Clarke and the late Jim (Laurie) and many step-nieces and nephews (Please reference the Tully Dictionary); dear brother of Judy (Mike) Fiore, Claire (Johnno) Sheahin, Tim (Pam) and Pete Tully and the late Ed; devoted son of the late George A. and the late Edna, nee Butler; proud grandfather of a diverse group including Conor, Meg, Jack, Mary Kate, Quinn, Gracie, Bridget, Brendan, Charlie, RJ, Ryan, Gina, Sean, Ryan, Liam, Melissa, Michaela, Molly and Declan. His loving family has no doubt that George is now at peace, having met his brothers, parents, Mary Therese and many of the old West Side/Riley’s crew at the bar in heaven. They’ve been holding a seat for him and we thank God for his part in our lives.“Fortiter et Fideliter” (Boldly and Faithfully).
