Virginia S. Pokorny (Spalo) of Elmhurst, IL passed away peacefully on July 8th , 2022 with her loving husband by her side. She was 91 years old. She was preceded by her parents Anthony P. and Catherine M (Lucey) Spalo, her brother Raymond A.Spalo and sister-in-law Marilyn (Wittenburg) Spalo. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Richard Spalo, Patricia Maxwell, Michael Spalo, Thomas Spalo, Cheri Spalo, Lori Spalo, seven grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Loving wife of Richard J.Pokorny for 67 years. They were known in our family as Aunt Ginny and Uncle Dick. Aunt Ginny loved to cook, garden, travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a vibrant woman who loved to socialize and was an active patron of the arts. Ginny loved dogs. She had many over the years and enjoyed walking them all over town. She was a loving, caring person who supported many charities regularly. She was active in Immaculate Conception Parish in Elmhurst for over fifty years, volunteering in the ministry department. She also volunteered at the Frank Lloyd Wright Center in Oak Park and worked at Marshall Field’s in Oak Brook. We are sad to say goodbye to this kind and beautiful soul. Memorial service will be held on July 23 at 9:30am at Immaculate Conception Church, 134 Arthur St, Elmhurst, followed by a luncheon and celebration of life.
