Michael J. King

Michael J. King, age 91, of Oak Brook, passed away peacefully at Saint Patrick’s Residence, Naperville. Michael was born and raised on a farm in Miltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland. His childhood was filled with stories his father would share of the great opportunities that awaited hard working people in America. At that same young age Michael’s great devotion to the Blessed Mother was formed as he watched his own mother trust and rely on her faith. At the age of 19, Michael immigrated to London and learned the masonry trade before immigrating to Canada and finally America in 1952. His sweetheart and later his wife, Rose, would follow him from London to their new home in Chicago. Michael capitalized on his skill as a bricklayer and became a successful builder and real estate developer over the next 50 years. Michael proved himself to be a good man that many will recall with fondness. Michael was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rose, a native of Athlone, Ireland; he was the loving father of Michael, Dan(Maureen), Ann (Eric) Meltzer, James (Patty) and the late Kevin; cherished grandfather of Michael, Catherine, Mary, Regina, Tom, Colleen, Katie, Meghan, Scott, George, Ellie, Abby, Maggie and Jamesand great-grandfather of Mairin, Clare, Madelyn, Michael, Nolan, Rory, Margaret, Lucas, Scout, Miles and Sawyer; dear brother of Anne (John) Healy, Theresa Duffy and the late Patrick King(Helen), Mary (Seamus) Brennan, Nora (Thomas) Nagle, Sister Margaret Michael, John (Eileen) King, Bridget (Michael) Lally, and Thomas (Peggy) King. Visitation Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Residence, 1400 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside.
