Sandra L. Stevens, nee Selig, age 82, passed away on January 28, 2022. She was born in Oak Park and spent her childhood in River Forest. She was the daughter of John and Ruth (nee Brown) Selig and lived in Elmhurst for over 50 years raising her family. Sandra is the beloved wife of John Stevens; loving mother of Dave and Mike (Jennifer) Stevens; proud grandmother of Alissa (Joe) O’Donnell, Kyle, Brandon, Drew, Evan, and Matthew Stevens; dear sister of Cindy (Jim) Johnson; special aunt of Rose Bernhard and many other nieces and nephews. Sandra had many passions, but none were more important than her family and times spent together. Christmas, family birthdays, Thanksgiving in Galena and summer vacations in Door County WI were some of her most cherished times. While being a wife, mother and grandmother took a lot of time and energy, she was also devoted to church and had a full working career. She was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of River Forest; Executive Assistant for WGN personality Harry Volkman; Executive Assistant at McDonald’s Corporation for over 25 years, and a District 205 substitute teacher. Visitation will be Friday, February 4, 2022, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, Elmhurst. Friends and family will meet for a funeral service on Saturday, February 5, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 7551 Quick Avenue, River Forest. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside.
