Timothy C. Peterson, 72, of Elmhurst, passed away surrounded by family; Tim was the loving brother of Jan, Bill (Paula) and his late twin brother Thomas J. Peterson; cherished son of the late Charles and the late Mildred, nee Clancy, Peterson; dear cousin of those across the country and friend of those from all walks of life. Tim lead an active, adventurous and exciting life, sometimes even tempting fate. Tim was like a cat with many lives. Some may have heard the story of his infamous injury free fall from Lover’s Leap at Starved Rock State Park. It is one of the many epic adventures where Tim escaped, law, order, injury or hospitalization. Everyone who knew Tim will undoubtedly remember him for these exciting stories, but to those who knew him best he will be remembered as a kind, gentle man who was an avid story teller. Tim was like an encyclopedia of sports information. He loved the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears but he was also an active participant in local events – running in Elmhurst’s first Turkey Trot, almost 37 years ago this Thanksgiving. Even after his running days were over, Tim made sure to participate by showing his support and buying one of the iconic race t-shirts. Tim was also an active member of Courts Plus since its opening. Tim’s family thanks his friends for their outpouring of support and a memorial service will be held in the future when the time is right. Information regarding the memorial will be updated on this site. Memorials in Tim’s honor may be made to the Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot Foundation, PO Box 1182 Elmhurst IL 60126 or St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. Arrangements handled by Gibbons Funeral Home, Elmhurst. 630-832-0018 or www.gibbonsfuneralhome.com

May the sun
bring new cheer to guide your day.
May the lion’s roar give you the strength
and courage needed in your day.
May the pond’s reflection
show you who you really are.
May the mountains
lead you through the hardest pathways.
May the moon’s light
give you warm energy to sleep.
