Peacefully and surrounded by his family, John C. Winton passed away on March 25, 2021 at the age of 78 years. John was born on September 8, 1942 in Rocky River, Ohio to James and Anna Mary (nee Crerar) Winton. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Susan (nee Fitz-Gibbon), whom he met at The Ohio State University. Dear brother of Jim (Jan) Winton and Alix (Ralph) Miller. Loving father of Lisa (Patrick) Schmitz, Jay (Lora), Matt (Megan), Andrew (Darcy) Winton. Proud grandpa of PJ, Chloe, Carter, Alexander, Matthew, Katelyn, Sean, Christopher and Mason. Fond brother-in law of Carol Showalter and Jane McKenna. Fond uncle of Michael, Brady, Paul, Ian, Keir, Sorel, Joe, Andrea and Amy. Fond cousin of Laura, Jeannie, John, Janet, Jackie, Joan and Charlie. John retired as the CFO of The Martin-Brower Company. He enjoyed being a member of the Elmhurst Jaycees and was a valuable Emeritus board member of the Northern Illinois Food Bank. He embodied the true spirit of what it means to live life to the fullest, whether it was boating, playing tennis, golfing or traveling. He loved watching his grandkids at all sporting events. He always had a smile on his face and spread cheer and humor to everyone he encountered. He will be dearly missed by everyone that had the honor to know him. Visitation will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 S. York Rd, Elmhurst.
