Edwin F. “Ted” Raye

Edwin F. “Ted” Raye , age 84, a 60-year resident of Elmhurst, former General Manager of Kentile Floors’ beloved husband of the late Anna Marie, nee Gunnell; loving father Ed,
Kathleen (Roberto) Cuca, Margaret (Robert) Chaidez and Marcus; devoted poppa to Nolan, Colin, and Owen Chaidez; fond uncle to Joseph (Heather)Gunnell and Julie Cleff and great-uncle to Ivy and Magnus Gunnell; Loving grandfather to his grand dogs, Bear, Panda, Teddy, and Angel. Ted never met a dog he didn’t like. He looked forward to walking his dog around the neighborhood while enjoying a cigar. Passionate about cooking, he believed everything was better cooked in butter. He taught his family the best meals come from instinct and to never follow a recipe. He knew every line from his favorite movies: Blues Brothers, Airplane, and Casablanca. A devoted Jeopardy fan, he watched every episode and seldom missed an answer. He loved watching episodes of NCIS. If you asked him, the original cast was the best. I worked with Ted beginning in 1970, at Kentile, as a Maintenance Department Supervisor and eventually Superintendent. He reminded me very much of my Dad because he could sometimes have a very gruff exterior at work but once you found your way past that you would find a very caring and decent man. I don’t however miss the 2:00 AM “Conversations” when I had to call him because of a breakdown at the plant.
    Rest In Peace my friend.

My condolences to Peggy,Kathy, andTeddy. Ted made the best lasagna. I use to tell him he should be a caterer. He loved to cook. May he Rest In Peace.

Received sad news belatedly. I was an old, old friend of Anna Marie and Ted.

Remembering Ted fondly. He shopped every Friday, while I worked at Dominick’s. Got to know him, and looked forward to his visits.
May your happy memories be your strength.
    Prayers , Ann
