Lucille M. Ryan, nee Hartney, age 94, longtime resident of Elmhurst, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home; beloved wife of the late Edward A. for over 44 years; loving mother of Lynda (John) Schutt, Donna (Gary) Glesser, Ed (Liz) Ryan, the late Michael Ryan, Debbie (Joe) Libert, Bill (Laura) Ryan, and Patti (Joe) McKeska; fond Grandmother of Eric Schutt, Sabrina (Jason) Krocker, Elizabeth Ryan, Sarah (Grant Goedde) Ryan, Ryan (fiancée Stevee Bellas) Libert, Carley Ryan, Justin Ryan, Alec McKeska, Kelly McKeska and Kyra McKeska and Great-Grandmother of Megan Schutt, Hailey Krocker, Sierra Krocker, Tyler Schutt and Emily Schutt; sister of Georgiana Ryan and the late Robert Hartney and Florence Kennedy; cherished daughter of the late George and the late Irene Hartney. Lucille graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Chicago, and after graduation, she worked at Hartney Oil Company, her father’s business. Lucille and Edward moved from Chicago to Elmhurst in 1956 and built their home. They were longtime parishioners of Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst. Lucille was a loving and devoted full-time mother who enjoyed supporting her children’s activities. Lucille along with her son Michael volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for many years. She also volunteered at Little Lambs, as a Reading Mom at Visitation School, and a supervisor at Butler Elementary School in Oak Brook. Lucille enjoyed Bunco with neighbors, watching the Chicago Bulls, following current events, cross-stitch embroidery, word puzzles, and loved baking. The family enjoyed summer weekends at her parents’ lake house in Silver Lake, WI during the 1940’s – 1980. In 1981, Edward and Lucille purchased their own summer house on Lake Miltmore, Lake Villa, IL and continued the tradition of spending time with their growing family. Lucille will be remembered as a person who loved her family and friends, was kind and generous to all and tried to do something every day to help others.
