Norman T. Watters, age 91, longtime Elmhurst resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Elmhurst Hospital. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII; graduate of Purdue University in electrical engineering, electrical engineer for more than 35 years at Zenith Radio Corporation, Chicago, where he was responsible for numerous patented inventions and became Director, Research & Development, for the Color TV Department. Mr. Watters was an avid golfer, tennis player and duplicate bridge player at local senior centers; dedicated husband for 70 years of Irene G., nee Ziehnert; loving father of Russell (Jennifer) Watters, Laura (Thomas) Bianchi and Jeffrey (Anne Rowe) Watters; proud grandfather of Ashley (Jim) Rovenski and Travis (Alison Hill) Watters, Kimberly Bianchi, Kelly (Anthony) Fiorino, Christina Bianchi and S. Daisy and Chloe Sabine Watters; cherished great-grandfather of John Wilson Rovenski. Visitation Saturday, January 28, 2017, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a funeral service at 4:30 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst.
