John Joseph “Jack” Powell, age 81, passed away at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin as a result of a stroke, Jack was a quiet but very playful man. He was a proud Navy Veteran and a retired AT&T systems engineer. Jack was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn, nee Strehlow for 53 years; loving father of Michael, Jean (Michelle), Steven (Brenda) and Robert (Jill) Powell; proud grandfather of Jessica, Brian, Paige and John and great-grandfather of Jacob. Jack’s family would like to take this opportunity to extend a special thank you to all extended family and friends that have comforted them during this difficult time.
