Joan P. Mullins

Joan P. Mullins, of Oak Brook, past owner and guiding hand of Mullins Food Products for over 50 years, now joyfully reunited with her late, loving husband and best friend John “Jack” Mullins; beloved mother of Michael (Sharon), Edward (Patty), Jeanne (James) Gannon, William (Linda), Marianne (William) Vivirito, James (Line), Judy (John) Lucas, Thomas (Joan), Jacqueline (Christopher) Stent, Kathryn (John) Burke and Shannon (Brian) Smith; proud grandmother of 34; great-grandmother of 2; cherished daughter of the late John and Theresa Strain; dear sister of the late Geraldine McClellan Hamilton; fond sister-in-law, aunt and friend of many. Joan was born in Chicago on April 3, 1931. She gained great strength from her experiences during the Great Depression and World War II. She was always kind, always fair, and was known and loved for her great sense of humor. A wonderful mother to eleven children, and a true and lifelong friend to many. Joan devoted her life to her family, church, friends and the people of Mullins Food Products. Her generosity knew no bounds, and many hundreds of people were touched and assisted by her kindness and wisdom. We will miss her warm smile, easy laugh and the love she freely gave. Visitation Thursday, 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Friends and family will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church,64 Norfolk, Clarendon Hills. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside.
