LONG
The lovely Christine Marie Long, age 54 was the adored sister of Maureen Therese (Jeff Price) Long, Thomas Edward, Neil Joseph and Anne Elizabeth (Andrea Janakas) Long and the late Kathleen Anne Long; cherished daughter of James Joseph and the late Lenore Genevieve, nee Vallee; stepdaughter of Roberta Frances Long, loving niece and cousin and devoted friend of many. Christine was passionately intellectual, excelling in school. She completed her undergraduate work with high distinction in 1980 at the University of Michigan School of Business, followed by the prestigious First Scholars program with the University of Chicago and First National Bank to earn a Masters of Business Administration in 1983. As a working executive, she completed a four year program of study in Western classics at the University of Chicago in 1992. Christine was a brilliant business executive working for 30 years in the Chicago business and banking community including positions as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer with Miami Corporation, Executive Vice President, R.H. Meissner i& Company, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Marketing, Cash Station, the First National Bank of Chicago and several others. Christine’s passion was also volunteerism and fund raising. She was a board member for Northwestern University (Board of Advisors of Larry and Carol Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice), Loyola University (Council of Regents and Investment Policy Committee of the Board of Trustees), Committee of 200 (C2 Foundation), the Joffrey Ballet (Board of Directors and others), and the Chicago Club. Christine gave generously of her time and resources to several philanthropic causes. Christine was a force of nature, a woman of exquisite taste, and the world is less beautiful without her, but we know she will redecorate heaven or at least rebuild the pearly gates. Visitation for all who loved her Friday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery.
